Wow, I am done for the day. And it is only 6:45 P.M.
You see, my younger sister is on her way here. Complete with husband, daughter and dog. Which means we had to clean, grocery-shop, bake, cook, clean some more - and make my office cat-proof. I really do not want a 30kg dog playing with our lively two cats. ^^
Right now, there is carrot soup on the stove for tomorrow's lunch (or dinner, maybe). There are muffins and chocolate shortbread cooling on racks. There is lasagna in the oven for tonight. There will also be pizza and Mississippi mud pie and cheesecake and mac'n'cheese.
I love cooking for my family. Actually, I am confused when I hear that people do not like to cook - especially witches. I mean, cooking is like witching - you take some ordinary things and yout intentions and mix them according to the rules, and the result is something wonderful. (Except if you weren't careful, then there may be disaster.) See? Magic.
My sister always keeps telling me I shouldn't bother that much when they come to visit, but she is exactly the same - making fancy cakes and delicious dishes and making icecream and stuff... - the cooking runs in the family. We're all little witches at heart. Explains a lot. ^^

yum!
You know, I WANT to love to cook. I certainly love to eat! But there are so many things that take the joy out of it: how long does it take to make? Is it relatively healthy? Is it relatively low-cholesterol? Is it relatively inexpensive? And then, I'm usually stuck with the clean-up, too!
It's a pleasure to read about the food you make, and the joy you take in making it...maybe I'll catch a little bit of that magic(k)!
Diandra ~ I just wanted to let you know that you have been picked as one of the winners of my Blog-o-versary Give-Away! Please see my latest post on The Wiccan Life for how to claim your prize.
Congrats to you!

All these foods sound so delicious. I think it is only proper to provide food for guests, no matter how close they are or how often they visit. Cooking is very much like Witching - manipulating energy (heat) to transform objects into something greater than the parts. I love it!
I hope you share some pics of the kitties and the pup playing nice, or just staring at each other with mayhem in their minds ;-)
I know what you mean about cooking, but there are so many different kinds of Witches, you know? The kitchen and the bedroom are my favorite parts of the house. The first because I love to brew things and make yummy stuff to fill my families bellies and the second, well, I think you know why.
Have a blast with your sis and her family!
@Magickal Melissa: Those questions will all be answered by experience. Just as witching becomes easier if you witch ahead and learn by doing. ^^
Thanks for all your comments!
