"I had to think about my wording on this one... I had to leave it vague,
because I wanted it to be as open to interpretation as possible.
What I'm referring to here can be magic, witchcraft, spirituality, the
things you can do that others around you cannot, etc. Another way to put
it might be "Do you come from a family of Witches?" but that only works
if you see yourself as a witch. Get what I'm trying to say here?
What you do and who you are - did it come from your bloodline? Or is it something you discovered and nurtured on your own?"

This is often a point of much debate among witches - some come from families where varieties of spells and rituals have been around for ages, others come from mundane Christian or Atheist (or...) families and discovered their path on their own. And sometimes there is debate as to what is better, or rather whether there is such a thing as "hereditary witchcraft".
I have got a two-step opinion on this (as usual).
First, I think that everyone has got it in them to be a great witch/pagan/... This is all about communicating nature and balancing the energies that surround everyone of us every minute of the day. So there is not really anything "special" about it, and practice makes perfect, as the saying goes. Coming from a family of witches does not have any advantages in this area, I guess ,except that maybe your "training" is more coordinated. On the other hand, of course, your chances for discovering great new things are slim when everything is done the traditional way and by the book.
On the other hand, there are different talents in different people, and sometimes they seem to run in the family. I know that several people on my mother's side were some kind of psychic - my grandfather ignored it (as does my younger sister), an aunt used it to rip off people, my mother never did anything about it and one of my older sisters and I use it as witches. The "flavor" of talent varies - some (used to) "see" or "hear" things, I am more likely to "feel" or "know" stuff. Note that no one else in our family does anything witchy, we still had to decide ourselves how we wanted to use this talent. And we suck in other areas, more or less.

This makes an incredible amount of sense to me! Totally agree.
Certainly coming from a witchy or talented family does not make you 'better' or 'worse' - it just means you came into it differently than some people.

Diandra...I love this post! I am trying to find out who I am. I am 65 years old and still searching. I believe that I have the soul of a wiccan , but in my heart I do believe in God. I love nature, and my woods is my favorite place to be...my sanctuary. Part of my heritage is that I am Native American (Cherokee) and Irish. This may or may not have something to do with my feelings. No one in my family ever claimed to be a witch that I am aware of, but deep in my soul I seem to be hearing that I am.
I love my life, and enjoy the things that I believe in. Maybe I'll never really know. Maybe it really doesn't matter one way the other :)
Hugs,
Jan
I almost forgot to tell you, Diandra. Remember my "money spell and charm" that went wrong, and turned into a "protective spell and charm"? It's still protecting our home! My hubby, and I were going shopping. We locked the door as we went into the garage, but I forgot something and had to go back into the house for it. I pushed on the door instead of unlocking it to get back in...I don't know why I did this, I had my key in my hand. Anyway the door just flew open!!! Even though we had locked the door the door knob lock was broken and anyone could have just pushed the door open and walked right in!!! Needless to say, we bought a new door knob and lock. I love that my spell even though it didn't bring me any extra money, is still protecting our home! I'll never remove that charm from it's place right along side our door :)
I think this makes a lot of sense! I was brought up Greek Catholic. My mom and brother are now Buddhist and I am a witch ;o) But my mom when she was younger and I have to say, even now, when she opens her mind, "knows" things. But, she says this scares her, so she shuts it down. For me, I have always loved nature and always collected stones and mediated with them. When I mediate, I see things. I asked my mom, when did I start gathering stones, and she honestly said, I don't know. So, I guess that part of me, has been with me for a long time! ;o) And, when I was ill, I came home and stared at a candle everyday, and told it what I wanted. I didn't have an operation ;o) The doctor said, whatever you are doing, keep doing it ;o) Have a great day!
